About MINI

The BMW engineered Mini Cooper has received a tremendous amount of attention in the past few years, possibly due in part to its unapologetic rebellion against the giant SUV trend here in the United States. Prior to being released by BMW as the New Mini, the 1st generation Mini was tremendously successful in Europe for decades. However, it was discontinued in 2000 and BMW elected to revamp it and release it again, with a release in the United States for the first time. The New Mini was met by much opposition, both by Americans not in favor of small cars, and also of Mini purists who were upset that the original was discontinued, and felt that the new one was actually too big. Despite the opposition, many also embraced the New Mini.
